How to choose an effective antiaging skin care product?

Wednesday, January 7th, 2009

Its no surprise that with the rise of the demand for skin care products now there are countless of products claiming to make miracles for your skin and make you look younger. However, you know that most of those claims are false or half truths, you see celebrities advertising miracle products that they havent even used.

The first thing that you need to know before choosing an antiaging skin care product is to have very clear what do you want to achieve, sound simple but most people just buy with an impulse without giving a second though about what they are buying or what ingredients it has.

Do you want to remove fine lines?, do you want to have a smoother skin?, do you want to get rid of bags?, do you want to have a more glowing skin?

There are a few things that you have to consider:

Make sure that the ingredients of the product are safe for your skin. For example there are some cream products that have fragrances, however those fragrances have toxins and damage your skin in the long term.

Dont buy expensive big name brands before getting a recommendation by someone that has actually used the product.

Make sure the product is guaranteed.

Now let me tell you some of the ingredients that an effective anti aging skin care product should have:

Free radicals destroy your skin as you age, so you need strong anti oxidants to help you prevent this, one of the most effective is CoEnzyme Q10.

The amount of hyaluronic acid reduces as you age and you need it to have a young looking skin a special ingredient that has this is Phytessence Wakame.

And lastly you need an ingredient such as Cynergy TK to help your body produce collagen and elastin on its own.

Now you are more informed to make a proper decision the next time you want to buy an anti aging product, there are some small companies that produce cheap anti aging products that are highly effective and have the right ingredients.

What are the really effective Anti aging skin care products that works

Tuesday, January 6th, 2009

Almost all of the anti aging skin care products on the market today do little more than moisturize. If you take the time to read the label, you will see that the primary ingredient is usually purified water, which is fine. But, then they have to go and add things that can actually be harmful.

Parabens are chemical preservatives. They are commonly used in anti aging skin care products and other cosmetics. They can cause irritation, rashes, contact dermatitis and allergic reactions, but that?s not even the worst part.

In some ways, these chemicals are similar to estrogen, which are known to drive the growth of cancerous tumors. There is quite a bit of controversy surrounding the use of parabens, since they have been found in samples taken from breast tumors.

You may know that anything that you put on your body is absorbed through your pores, so you may as well be eating it. It is only smart to avoid anything containing propyl, butyl, isobutyl or other parabens.

Most anti aging skin care products contain some type of alcohol. On the ingredients list, you may see ethanol, ethyl, methanol, benzyl or isopropyl. All of these are forms of alcohol which is drying. So, first they put in water to moisturize and then they add alcohol to dry it up.

It?s completely illogical, but it is common practice. Ingredients like the ones listed above promote brown spots and premature aging. Anti aging skin care products that contain stearyl or cetearyl, which are waxes are fine. They will not be absorbed through the pores and will not have a drying effect, but the other group of alcohols should be avoided.

You should also avoid anything that contains DEA, MEA or TEA. The words are not usually written out, since the label on the container is so small, but just in case. Diethanolamine, monoethanolamine and triethananolamine are sometimes used to adjust pH levels. These chemicals are believed to cause cancer and their use has been restricted in Europe, but not in other areas of the world.

Dioxane is often used in anti aging skin care products to make harsh ingredients milder. You will see the ingredient in exfoliating creams and the like. Using harsh ingredients is a bad idea in the first place, but adding dioxane to make them milder is a really bad idea. It is another of the known carcinogens and scientists suspect that it is toxic to the kidneys, nerves, and respiratory tract.

Then there are the ?fragrances?. Most of us use cologne, deodorant, shower gel, shampoo and a list of other beauty aids that contain fragrances. Whenever possible, you should avoid artificial fragrances. They are known to affect the central nervous system causing depression, irritability and hyperactivity.

You might think that an ingredient like mineral oil is natural and good for you. The truth is that it clogs your pores and encourages acne, blackheads and pimples.

There are many other chemicals in our world that are known or suspected of causing cancer. There are only a few all natural creams and lotions. But, if you really want the best anti aging skin care products, all natural is the way to go. Otherwise, you may be doing more harm than good.

What does an effective antiaging formula contains?

Saturday, January 3rd, 2009

An antiaging formula may be thick with chemical names and wild claims. Many an average consumer has wandered carelessly into the thickets without a map or a compass, only to emerge from the other side even more confused and unaware than before.

Consumers lost in this jungle bear the scars from an onslaught of half truth advertisements. They reel you in with free samples. Then you receive a barrage of junk mail. You got a lot of stuff, but what you did not get was an effective antiaging formula.

If you read some product reviews, you will see that there are more negatives than positives. The cheap ingredients and fillers that manufacturers use are prone to cause allergic reactions, irritation and inflammation. Exactly the opposite of what an antiaging formula should do.

Before you wander into the jungle that is your local cosmetic counter, get some education. Learn a little about what causes wrinkles and skin damage in the first place. Let me help you get started.

Wrinkles are caused by free radical damage that begins deep within the skin?s layers. Sagging and loss of elasticity are caused by reduced production of collagen that typically accompanies aging. In order to be effective an antiaging formula needs to address both of these issues.

Several factors may lead to free radical damage. Most of the damage is done by the sun. When exposed to UVA or UVB light, the production of free radicals increases and they become frenzied.

Knowing this, companies thought that adding sunscreen to an antiaging formula was a good idea. As often happens when conclusions are rushed to, this is doing more harm than good.

Lotions with an SPF rating are designed to prevent sunburns. Over the years, burning and overexposure does lead to certain types of skin cancer, as well as the harmless fine lines that an antiaging formula is supposed to remove.

But, burns are caused by UVB rays and it is UVA that penetrates most deeply and really increases free radical production, causing wrinkles and more deadly types of cancer. An antiaging formula that contains an SPF rating only blocks UVB, not the more harmful UVA.

You also need to know, that the body is perfectly capable of repairing the damage, as long as it has the right nutrients. It is also able to continue to produce collagen, with the right nutritional support. An antiaging formula should provide the support that your skin needs to produce new cells that will eventually become collagen fibers.

The typical antiaging formula contains cow?s collagen. Is that supposed to replace your own? That is what the advertisers insinuate, but it?s not true. Those products do nothing other than cause irritation and many people are allergic to them.

What you need to look for is protein, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. I know it sounds like a health supplement, because your skin needs the same things that the rest of your body does. The best antiaging formula is not sold in stores or on TV, but you can find it on the internet. If you know where to look.
